Vocab List #1
Astute: sagacious, wise, clever, cunning, shrewd, ingenious, keen penetration or discernment
Boast: to brag, to talk about proudly
Contingency: accidental, fortuitous, something happens by chance
Curative: something that cures, remedies or counteracts
Demystify: to clarify, to rid of mystery
Dubious: doubtful, not certain, skeptical, vague, ambiguous, hesitating
Inexorable: can't be persuaded or moved (Exorable: susceptible of being persuaded or moved)
Intersperse: to scatter here and there, spread among other things
Ostentatious: pretentious, showy display
Plummet: plunge, to drop or fall down sharply and heavily
Rapacious: greedy, voracious, taking by force, plundering grasping
Redundant: excess, superfluous, extravagant
Strenuous/Strenuously: ardent, vigorous, zealous, something requires a lot of effort and energy
Journal #4: Verbs of the Sentence
"On a normal weekday morning, the members of the house move around the house busily to get ready for a new day. My mother restlessly prepares a healthy breakfast in the kitchen. She always admonishes: "Always equip yourself with a robust breakfast at the start of the day for a productive day." Despite the craving for sleep, my brother forcefully pulls himself out of bed and drags himself into the bathroom. I, fully dressed, hastily grab and throw into my backpack everything in my sight at the last minutes. Among all the chaos, my father calmly chews, swallows his meal while he watches the morning news. After the tumult wanes, the house returns to its quiet and lonely state."
Despite my running at the speed of light, I step into the classroom the moment the bell stops ringing. My English teacher, Mr. Dawson, mercilessly marks a tardy check next to my name and coldly asks me to take my seat. As I move slowly to the back of classroom, my classmates secretly give me sympathetic looks. Their faces read, "Don't take it personally, he does that to everyone."
Journal #3: Subjects of the sentence

Journal #2: Verbs & Adverbs; Sentences with Nouns, Adjectives, Verbs & Adverbs
5-10 verbs: watch, listen, study, read, sleep, relax, eat, play, drive, work, boast, intersperse, demystify
5-10 adverbs: peacefully, well, strenuously, loudly, quietly, clearly, mechanically, automatically, clumsily
Sentences:
My mother attentively watches the loud movie. I am strenuously working on an important project. The baby sleeps peacefully on the couch. The house is currently quiet without the screaming and crying of the baby. I have to constantly remind my brother to keep his voice down. After a sick day yesterday, my father looks pale this morning.
Journal #1: Nouns & Adjectives
5-10 nouns: mother, brother, computer, flag, guitar, books, shelf, couch, baby, Monetarism
5-10 adjectives: sleepy, attentive, quiet, peaceful, pale, tired, worrisome, empty, dirty, happy
